Sessions are 55 minutes long.

Sessions are held virtually through SimplePractice, a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform —you can download a client portal app and the SimplePractice telehealth app on a mobile device or use a browser on a PC. If for some reason the link does not work, email/call/text me and I have a few HIPAA compliant back up options.

When your appointment is scheduled, you'll get an email and text with your appointment details and video link. You'll also get an email reminder 48 hours before, plus text reminders 24 hours and 10 minutes before your session — so you shouldn't have to go hunting for the link.

Whatever works best for you. Some clients like to lock in a recurring time — say, Tuesdays at noon — and keep that same slot for a few months. Others prefer to schedule week to week if their schedule tends to shift around.
At the end of each session, we'll confirm your next appointment before you go. You'll also have access to an online client portal where you can self-schedule or reschedule anytime, up to 24 hours before your appointment.

In my experience, most progress happens when we start with weekly sessions for the first 4–6 weeks. That gives us time to get to know each other, figure out what's bringing you in, identify your strengths, and put together a plan of care that fits you.
After that, it really depends on what works best for you. Some clients like to keep meeting weekly, while others prefer to space things out to every other week or once a month. We'll figure this out together based on how things are going and what fits your life.
I also know that weekly sessions aren't always realistic — whether it's your schedule, your budget, or both. If that's the case for you, let's talk about it. My goal is to make care that actually works for your situation, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

My rate is $200 for the initial session and $185 for follow-up sessions.
If I'm in-network with your insurance, your cost per session will depend on your specific plan and benefits. Some plans require you to meet your deductible before they start covering sessions; others cover the full cost or just a copay/coinsurance. The best way to get exact numbers is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your mental health/behavioral health outpatient benefits.

Payments are processed securely through Stripe within my client portal, SimplePractice. Stripe accepts most major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA/FSA cards. I'm not able to accept cash or checks.

Life happens, so just give me at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. That way I can offer the spot to another client or plan my day accordingly. Cancellations inside the 24-hour window, or missed sessions, are subject to a $50 fee. You can cancel and reschedule appointments through the Client Portal up until 24 hours before the alloted time.

This really depends on what brings you in and what you're hoping to get out of it. Some clients come in for a specific, short-term goal and feel ready to wrap up after a few months. Others are working through something more longstanding and find it helpful to stay in therapy longer — sometimes a year or more. There's no set timeline, and we'll check in regularly about how things are progressing so you always have a sense of where you stand and what makes sense for you going forward.

I work with adults, ages 18 and up.
-
I work with adults one-on-one. That said, a family member or loved one is welcome to join a session to support specific goals we're working on together — but those sessions stay focused on that particular goal rather than functioning as ongoing couples or family therapy. If couples or family counseling is what you're looking for, I'm glad to point you toward trusted colleagues in my network who specialize in that.
-
No — my background is in mental health counseling, not medicine, so I'm not able to prescribe. If medication would be helpful as part of your care, I'm happy to coordinate with your primary care provider or a psychiatrist so you're getting well-rounded support.
-
Because of licensing regulations in most states, I'm only able to provide services to clients who are physically located in NC or WA at the time of the session.
-
I do keep a limited number of reduced-fee spots available, offered on a case-by-case basis depending on financial need. If cost is a concern, let's talk about it during your 15-minute consult — I'll do my best to work with you.
